Tax Compliance in Brazil | Our Story

The Brazilian government requires a number of various documents (regularly) from a company, in order to keep itself compliant with the local requirements. Not only are these documents needed regularly, but they also need to be handed-in in a specific format that is legally accepted. This is a very common case in Brazil and the rest of the Latin American Region.

The constant demand for these documents and the changes of legal requirements by local tax authorities and the government can make any growing businesses hesitant to start-up or base themselves in that particular country. What can expanding companies do to avoid or handle the situation?

Brazil’s economy is expected to grow by less than 1.0% this year, according to estimates from the government, central bank and most private sector economists.

LatamReady’s first steps into Brazil | How we helped!

We started off with NetSuite’s standard functionalities during our first implementation in Brazil, which was a great start. From there e realized that NetSuite’s functions are perfect for small processes, however, in Brazil, every state has its own mandatory documents for tax compliance, and that takes a lot of money and time to strategically deal with. (Brazil is one of the most difficult countries in Latin America to be tax compliant…it’s possible, but it’s hard work!)

We dealt with a lot of manual work in Brazil, it caused a lot of struggle because everything had to be implemented manually and line by line by the end of the month.

We had to avoid this, we needed every business to avoid this. So we worked on the ultimate solution.

The complexity of tax compliance in Brazil is due to the different regulations that exist by state or by cities within the same state.

We maneuvered our way to a solution

NetSuite is well-known to look after small to medium-sized businesses. LatamReady with its ULTIMATE tool within NetSuite goes further, offering a service that perfectly suits large international companies and the needs of its subsidiaries in Latin America. With our experience, we were able to reduce the large Gaaps between NetSuite’s limited native functionality and the demanding local requirements in Brazil and the rest of Latin America.

Edgard Carpio, LatamReady’s VP of Operations, having a meeting with Brazilian NetSuite Reps.

This was achieved thanks to the LatamReady SuiteApp which allows the process of thousands of legal documents immediately following correct requirements for the region (E-Invoicing), solve tax issues (Rules / calculation /determination/information reporting) and much other functionality to get every company up and running in one of the most tedious tax regions in the world.
